Who thinks the trade embargo on Cuba should be lifted?
Question by enigma: Who thinks the trade embargo on Cuba should be lifted?
Now that Fidel Castro has stepped down as president, who thinks the trade embargo that has been in place for over 40 years should be lifted? What’s the worse thing that could happen?Every other country in the world does business with cuba abd it’s citizens can travel there, except people from the USA.
Cuba is not a perfect country by any means but there is no embargo against Vietnam where 58,000 US Soliders fought and died there, nor is there an embargo against China which is a communist country.Who thinks the embargo on Cuba should be lifted?

I think so. China is far more guilty of human rights violations, not to mention trying to poison US with all the lead in their products, and we trade with them.

The Cuban Embargo has lasted almost exactly as long as the war on drugs. They’re both equally effective. sigh….

put a democratically elected leader in place and we will consider it

You know.. I think maybe it is time. The reason for it are kind of antiquated.. hell we trade with countries who are far worse and have done far worse to us.
maybe by lifting it and letting the trade flow in some ways it will help the Cuban people.. and ,maybe just maybe they will begin to organize and one day either elect or overthrow this Communist regime.. and be free again.

I think it should have BEEN lifted long ago! It has done nothing to support the Cuban people or give them freedom of speech, but it has hurt their economy.

When it is no longer communist. There was a reason it was placed on them and that was because Castro was attempting to allow Soviet missile emplacement. That to me is no light matter.

There’s no logical reason to have an embargo against Cuba when we trade with communist China and Vietnam. The Cuban people would benefit from a lifting of the embargo.

I do but it might be bad for this poor island. I mean that under “el lider maximo” and the american embargo, Cuba stopped being the whore-house of the States…

why not. we have sold weapons to Iraq and Iran … we trade with China. there is no reason to keep the embargo unless we are going to make it “fair and balance” and place the same restrictions on ALL countries that are similar to Cuba.

I think that it should be lifted. After 40 years it seems like we should be able to allow them a chance. It may even stop the constant refuge inflow if they are allowed to live in a halfway civilized country.

They can go to hell, we should maintain an embargo on Cuba until every American who was alive in 1962 has died.
